The Lotus Temple is a beautiful Baháʼí House of Worship located in New Delhi, India, which was completed in December 1986. Its design resembles a lotus flower, and it welcomes everyone, regardless of their religion, gender, or background. The structure features 27 marble-clad “petals” arranged in groups to form nine sides with nine doors leading into a central hall that can hold around 1,300 people, although it can accommodate up to 2,500 visitors during special events. The Lotus Temple is renowned for its stunning architecture and has received many awards and media attention. While visitors are encouraged to enjoy the peaceful environment, reading from religious texts, giving sermons, or collecting donations are not allowed. Worship is informal, and no rituals are practiced. The temple area, which includes nine serene ponds and gardens, spans 26 acres, and an educational center was added next to the temple in 2017.
